Spells for Democracy: 4th of July Working

As I’m sure many of you know by now, Justice Sandra Day O’Conner has just resigned from the Supreme Court. This means that George W. Bush will probably nominate a middle-aged (so as to have as long a tenure as possible) right-wing, judicial activist with a strong anti-abortion, anti-gay, and anti-civil rights track record. Already the various conservative political propaganda machines are stressing the importance of nominating “a real conservative—not one of those stealth moderates.” Jehovah forbid that a moderate should be approved for the Supreme Court!

Usually on the 4th of July I ask people to reconsecrate the < href="http://www.neopagan.net/SpellsforDemocracyImages.html">statue of the Goddess Freedom on the top of the Capitol Dome. This year, the Spells for Democracy folks are going to cast a specific spell in addition to this. If Bush insists on nominating a right-wing abortion foe, we are going to see a constitutional crisis of unprecedented damage to our way of life. The Democrats will filibuster, in which case the Republican “nuclear option” of canceling filibusters for judicial nominees will be used and the Democrats in the Senate will either “compromise” and betray their principles, or they will stand up on their hind legs and refuse to be bullied, thus dragging the entire legislative branch of the US government to a screetching halt. Either option will be very bad for Freedom in America.

It’s time for Neopagans, New Agers, and members of other minority belief systems, who care about the threat of the Religious Reich to take action! Get photos of all the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee (we’ll try to put them up at our Yahoo Groups page) and do a spell/working/prayer circle/etc., invoking every God and Goddess of Justice we resonate with, to force them to approve only a moderate who believes in true justice for all Americans.

We will zap our spells through the statue of Freedom on top of the Capitol Building and directly into their brains.

As for timing, let’s do it during the climax of our local fireworks displays on the Fourth of July. If you don’t have a local display, do it during the official Washington show—most of the Senators will be there! All left-over energy should be focused to recharge the statue, as we always do on the 4th of July.

Future lunar workings by the Spells for Democracy group will have to be focussed on impeachment investigations actually happening and charges being made against the Bush crime cartel. That should keep Bush and the neo-theo-cons too distracted to want a filibuster fight at the same time.

Let’s have no more arguing about philosophical issues. “Just do it!”

yours for Freedom,
Isaac

Spells for Democracy: Full Moon Assignment

Here are the spell scheduling goals for the Full Moon, which will occur at 12:14 AM, Eastern Time, on June 22nd.

On June 3rd, I said to my Spells-for-Democracy E-List that after our New Moon spells to reveal secrets the Bush Junta wanted kept quiet had succeeded, that the 6/22/05 working “can then be a Justice spell, focused on pressuring the Senate and the House to appoint investigation committees to look into the revealed secrets.”

As several people have mentioned, our previous spells seem to be working. More secrets are coming out every day about, not just the Downing Street Minutes, but the active efforts by the Administration to deceive Congress then and now. More importantly, the mainstream media is finally beginning to broadcast the facts.

I’d like to see all of us invoking our favorite deities of Justice this Full Moon to flood the Congressional Building with outrage and determination to see justice done, regardless of party. There are plenty of old-time Goldwater conservatives in the House and Senate that are disgusted by the neo- and theo-cons and their lies, their crimes, and their fiscal irresponsibility.

I just received a wonderful quote from Barry Goldwater, sent to me by Air America’s Randi Rhodes (I’m on her promo list), taken from 1964:

“I’m frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in A, B, C, and D. Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me?”

Indeed! We could use a few more Republicans with that attitude today.

Meanwhile, remember that the Goddess of Freedom on the top of the Capitol Building has been specifically consecrated, several times, to focus Spells for Democracy—let’s send Her some juice!

Well, we must be doing something right. We’ve already received our first spam comments! So I’ve changed the defaults to require all comments to be moderated before posting.

Your comments may therefore take up to 24 hours before being posted. Don’t blame us, blame the nasty folks who spam blogs!

Note 1: Yes, I know there are anti-spam plug-ins for this program. It’s just going to take me a while to figure out how to install and use them.

Note 2: I won’t usually kill comments just because they disagree with me. Spam and divine/demonic threats are likely to be about it for categories to be censored.
