\nThe queer kids and the trans kids
\nand the druggie kids with empty eyes
\nwho can’t go home even if they wanted to
\nThe travelling kids, the hitchhikers
\nwho no one will stop for
\nThe buskers and the panhandlers
\nstaring at empty streets<\/p>\n

This one’s for the homeless
\nwho have no place to shelter
\nThe street people
\nThe cold and hungry people
\nThe ones with no soap
\nNo running water
\nNo take out or delivery
\nThe ones with bad lungs
\nand diabetes and rotten livers
\nand damaged skin
\nwho already saw friends die<\/p>\n

This one’s for the buskers
\nand the living statues
\nand the people in costume
\nasking a fiver for a selfie
\nThe ones who found
\na way to survive
\nthat worked for them
\nWho used their creativity
\nto find a way
\nWho stare at empty streets
\nwith empty pockets
\nKnowing no government program
\nwill compensate them<\/p>\n

This one’s for the refugees
\nThe ones in camps with
\nbombed out homelands
\nor drought or flood
\nbehind them
\nand nothing in front
\nThe ones who have no soap
\nand carry their water
\nThe ones raising
\ntheir kids in tents
\nwith nothing but fabric walls
\nseparating them
\nfrom their neighbors
\nThe ones who did
\nthe best they could
\nand now they’ll see more death<\/p>\n
