He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s claiming that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153take him out\u00e2\u20ac\u009d has many possible interpretations. Unfortunately for him, the mass media are following up his denials with videotape, audiotape, and\/or transcripts of what he actually said about the advisability of assassination as a political tool. No one but the truest of his True Believers can deny the evidence of their eyes and ears, but Pat keeps trying! We can expect the other fundamentalist mullas to rally around him as he once again agrees with Islamic hate-mongers that violence is justified to attain political, cultural, and economic goals.<\/p>\n
Because as we all know, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Thou shalt not kill\u00e2\u20ac\u009d only applies to friends, fetuses, and our own conservative political leaders, because \u00e2\u20ac\u0153we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re The Good Guys\u00e2\u201e\u00a2.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Yes, folks, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fundamentalist lunacy at it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s finest! Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t hold your breath waiting for moderate or liberal Christian leaders to denounce Robertson\u00e2\u20ac\u201dmost of them haven\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t got the guts, since the fundies have lots of weapons, military and economic.<\/p>\n
Naturally, the rest of the world, not just Venezuala, considers it entirely likely that the USA would assassinate a foreign leader\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwe\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve done it before, not to mention staging coups to overthrow other countries\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 (usually democratic) governments, going to war based on packs of lies (usually with the assistance of craven or corrupt media), etc.<\/p>\n
So, let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s see what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s happening now\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 we have a nationally known fundamentalist religious leader calling for the murder of a foreign head of state. Isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t that usually called \u00e2\u20ac\u0153terrorism\u00e2\u20ac\u009d when the Muslim or Jewish fundamentalists do it? Naturally, we can expect Our Glorious Leader to denounce Robertson immediately\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 momentarily\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 any day now\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 Ooops! Distancing themselves from domestic terrorists would offend the religious lunatics and gun nuts that the Republicans depend upon to win re-election (or election rigging) in 2005 and 2006.<\/p>\n
